Writing takes focus, determination, will power and an incredible business plan. By the way, some free parental advice, these are the same attributes needed to raise a family.
On the other hand, distraction, laziness and lack of vision will run you into the ground with writing (and with children). Personally, I have had those days and they have cost me! (A lot of money, quite simply) with writing and with children.
WOPC/WC-Without a Business Plan/With Children, you could find yourself at the local "stuffing stuffed animal store" with a child who really needs nourishment and naptime. Far less costly to have a business plan with meals and sleep; than to wind up walking through the mall carrying the now stuffed stuff-able animal and a (still) hungry, howling child!
Can you imagine, racing through the latest fashion finds with an intent teenager and doing so without a Business Plan? By the time you realize where you have found yourself,(overpriced clothing racks at the front of overpriced clothing store), you have lost your wallet to none other than the now, very intent teenager! Hopefully, when this happens, parents will be roused by the jolt of the shrill screams and questionable lyrics streaming through those wireless speakers overhead. Music might wake or annoy the WOBP/WC enough to curtail the damages awaiting at the cashier's counter.
I laugh at all of this because, well, I know. It has happened to me! I have to whisper to myself, continuously, "stay focused, stay focused, stay focused---or you will weep when the credit card statement shows itself!" Try to imagine the looks I receive from bystanders: with children of all ages surrounding me and those funny thoughts steadily streaming out through a soft smile.
A smile! Yes! Why? Because, I never dreamed parenting could be this way; back in the day. Ahhhh, back in the day when my closet and my clothes were organized by outfits and by events. Back in the day when I had so much time to ponder my hair, my nails, the pleasant smile I conveyed to everyone ;-) Back in the day when I pictured clean children in clean clothes in a car that smelled like cinnamon (not Odor De Seasonal Sport Bag).
Wait a second, okay, now how did I go from Start Right Here, to Back in the Day? See what I mean about FOCUS and applying it to Writing, I mean Parenting? Wait!!! What do I mean??? :-) I hope you are lol.....Truly, I mean it is good to start this Writing Blog at the end of a successful day of Parenting and to have a business plan for both.
I am sure there must be another way to summarize. A good writer would surely know! However, I am so not perfect, I am so human. In doing my best, I hope I brought a smile and some laughter to your day!
